Is it a child or AI?

Writing prompts for AI is like giving an assignment to an overconfident, know-it-all 10-year-old child. The experience can be really fun, exciting, and rewarding, but sometimes you just want to slap them.

– Both make up answers when they don’t know it.
– Both are willing to answer without all the information.
– Both think they’re the boss. (This is why I have AI call me “Boss”, so there is no room for misinterpretation)
– Both are too proud to ask questions.

What does that mean for you?

– Help them say, “I don’t know.”
– Get them to slow down, think, and plan before responding.
– Have them check their work.
– Give them clear instructions with all the information they need.
– Encourage them to ask questions if they need to.
