Courses: Practical AI

NYCOO offers a course called “Practical AI” that is an interactive session on how to use AI in your day-to-day work. We cover prompting best practices, an in-depth demo of ChatGPT’s features and capabilities with a variety of examples and use cases, how to build custom GPTs, agents, and tools, how to use agents, assistants, and connectors to add context for the AI and allow it to take action for you, tours of other AI-based tools, and how to adopt AI as an organization.

Here’s a high level outline of the course

Understanding AI. Defines AI as the simulation of human intelligence by computers.
Explains how AI works using data and code to create intelligent tools.

Importance of AI. Highlights AI’s potential to enhance productivity, creativity, and efficiency. Emphasizes how AI can automate mundane tasks, allowing users to focus on more valuable activities.

Using AI Effectively. Covers techniques like prompt engineering, fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and custom tools. Discusses interfaces such as prompting with chat, AI-integrated features, AI-first products, and autonomous agents.

Role and Industry Specific Use Cases. Provides examples across various tasks, roles, and industries. Demonstrates how AI can automate a variety of tasks.

Popular AI Tools. Introduces tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, and others.

Prompting Best Practices. Offers strategies for crafting effective prompts to improve AI responses, including providing context, specifying output formats, and iterative testing.

Custom AI Solutions. Explains how to build custom AI tools using APIs and platforms like OpenAI, Zapier, and Clay. Showcases custom built examples for internal support and contract-to-database automation.

Organizational Adoption. Discusses fostering a culture of AI adoption through incentives, leadership advocacy, training, and integration into workflows.
